Linking the relative

Entertaining the possibility that phenomena might also be viewed as ultimately having a substrate that is non relative can bring about increased adaptibility and help in creating or augmenting situational, personal or interpersonal flexibility. In this context, the demarcation of the self and of the other could be viewed as an imputation of properties or a particular framework that in turn apply to the references thus created from a ground that is uniformly impartial, non implicative and completely without attributes. Thus, relative applicability is seen to be generated from the non relative which is forever impartial. The process of such imputation of applicability of phenomena that can equally be discerned as impartial is termed fragile linking in contemplative process therapy. Specifically, propertylessness is seen as inherent in all phenomena and the non relative the substrate for all possible imputation. Basic nature or perhaps objective reality is prior to any imputation, and the non relative actually the only completely objective ‘nature’ of all that seemingly exists or is observed through the lens of any kind of viewing system. Neutrality learning is a returning to this non relative ground, a learned re-cognition of the absence of applicability, of any attribute whatsoever of the non relative basis of all that is observed.

From the vantage point of the self, which itself is seen to arise by imputation from a non relative ground state, phenomena such as mental events like thoughts, views, beliefs and interpretations are seen to lie along a continuum of relative inference whereby their bearing or pertinence is determined by the degree of fragile linking. Import, quite literally, being a fragile linked condition. Neutrality learning supposes that virtually anything can be viewed as completely impartial or neutral and seeks to attenuate fragile linking. The attenuation of fragile linking isn’t indifference, rather it is conducive to openness and spontaneity, to contemplative as well as psychological flexibility.

Fragile link contemplation in CPT involves the reframing of the details that inform our day to day life which are viewed as carrying the potential also of actually being impartial rather than by nature fixedly imbued by or made up of particular characteristics, emotions and feelings. This appraisal aids in the recognition of the non relative reality underlying the apparent structure and definition of inner and outer, one and other that the notion of core spaciousness signifies. The fundament, the actuality of observable or constructed definition is seen to be non relative. Such a supposition lends itself more readily to freedom from conflict. It is akin to a configurational paradigm shift through which rigidity is lessened and the damaging consequences of psychological reification and fallacious divisiveness are minimized.
